Over 40 years of practice as a Registered Nurse was eye-opening, fascinating, adventuresome, supportive, informative, and most definitely growth-producing. General Medical/Surgical, along with specialties such as Neurology/Neurosurgery, Surgical Intensive Care, Hemodialysis (even on a cruise ship!), defined my clinical practice, while home care supervision, school nursing, summer sessions at Camp Ho Mita Koda for insulin dependent diabetic children, and an interim position as Director of Pupil Medical Services, rounded out my total experience as a nurse..
As a trainer for Magellan Health, I spoke on topics such as Stress Management, Change Management, and Time Management, to audiences of 50 to 250 or more. Working with Magellan also included being a CISM (Critical Incident Stress Manager) for tragic incidents affecting workplace employees. Magellan made me realize that I enjoyed speaking as well as storytelling!
